Pass the Popcorn: March 2012’s Most Popular Hotel Room Movies
She scored big in movie theaters, won an Academy Award nomination for Rooney Mara and even picked up a gold statue at the Big Show. (Hey, no one said soundmixing wasn’t important.) So small surprise The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo cleaned up last month as the most-watched Hollywood movie in hotel rooms in New York and across the nation.
As previously, the movie watching tastes of guests in New York hotels differed somewhat from those across the nation (yes to Charlize Theron; no to Alvin and the Chipmunks). Here are the two top ten lists for March according to statistics compiled by LodgeNet, supplier of in-room entertainment to 1.6 million hotels rooms.
New York
Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Contraband
The Descendants
We Bought a Zoo
The Iron Lady
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
Young Adult
The Sitter
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close
My Week with Marilyn
The Nation
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo
Contraband
The Descendants
We Bought a Zoo
Jack and Jill
Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy
The Iron Lady
The Sitter

Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked
The list makes it pretty clear — fewer kids in New York hotels than nationally. No surprise, I suppose.
New York hotels get their share of kids, especially during holiday times, but yes, fewer than, say, Orlando, Scottsdale, Anaheim and plenty of other places. Thanks, Joshua.
