Four Hotel Rooftops Where You Can Still Find a Spot to Watch the Macy’s Fireworks Show

We’ll take the works!

Macy’s unleashes their patented July 4 ode to the rockets’ red glare, aka the Macy’s Fireworks Showtonight from a fleet of barges floating in the East River between 22nd and 42nd streets. That make Fireworks 2018 a three-borough spectacular, with viewing opportunities throughout much of Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens, provided there’s nothing tall to obstruct your view (good luck).

Ka-boom!

A sure-fire way to see the works in all their glory is from a roof lounge at a well-placed hotel (you’ll get food and drinks, too). These four hotels are gearing up for a night of eye-and-ear-popping birthday celebrations as America turns 242. And yes, you can still book a spot.

With a heart-of-the-Lower-East-Side location, the sprawling, minimalist-cool penthouse at the Hotel on Rivington offers indoor and outdoor viewing. The annual July 4 Celebration unfurls at 7 p.m. with a four-hour unlimited bar, summer barbecue and panoramic views. DJ Marco Penta spins. Tickets cost $200, reservations required.

As Brooklyn’s only hotel where all the rooms have balconies, it’s no surprise the William Vale’s Westlight 22nd floor bar and 23rd floor rooftop command dazzling views worthy of fireworks. Organized by BABËL and WAÏ & Tribe, the July 4 magic-themed IpendeDANCE begins at 5 p.m., wraps at midnight and includes food, drink, music by France’s Lunar Disco and magic by Magician Guilivert. A few tickets at $150 are still available.

Glorious is how we’d describe the views of the Manhattan skyline from the outdoor deck at 1 Rooftop Bar and Garden at 1 Brooklyn Bridge Hotel. Reservations are closed for July 4 fireworks watching, but you can try you luck as a walk-in for $20 and order nibbles like lobster rolls and cheeseburgers, beer on tap or in a can or a craft cocktail (given the forecast, we’d suggest the Heatstroke made from Avión Blanco Tequila, Mezcal, Pineapple, Agave, Lime). Open from noon until midnight.

New name, new party. The Royalton Park Avenue, formerly the Gansevoort Park Avenue, boasts a rooftop pool, a stylish NoMad location and July 4th Rooftop BBQ and Fireworks Viewing Party. Revels begin at 4 p.m., last until midnight, and feature live music by the Hot Toddies and DJ Greg Groovez. Vodka open bar from 4 to 5 p.m. Tickets from $30 (general admission and access to pool lounge), $40 (general admission and vodka bar) and $80 (admission, vodka bar and access to VIP sundeck for the best views).
