Hotel Happenings You’ll Want to Check Out during New York Fashion Week
You’ll need an invitation to get into the more than 130 shows by the likes of Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Fenty Puma by Rihanna that comprise New York Fashion Week, aka NYFW, unfurling September 7 through 15. The parties, too.
But not every NYFW event is roped off with velvet. You may need to RSVP, but these happenings at New York hotels are open to all.
Sit for a sketch by Laura Kay and discover what you look like with a sylph-like body and mile-long legs. Known for her instantly recognizable illustrations for Nieman Marcus, Lord & Taylor and Christian Louboutin — and for her 90k-plus Instagram following — Kay will be in residence for two-hour weekday stints at Triumph Hotels, starting September 7 at Hotel Chandler, followed by Hotel Belleclaire (September 8), The Iroquois (September 11), The Evelyn (September 12), Cosmopolitan Hotel Tribeca (September 13), Washington Jefferson Hotel (September 14) and Hotel Edison (September 15). Check out #TriumphHotels to post your sketch and see her NYFW handiwork. Sketches are free, but you need to book an appointment.
Need a special look for NYFW? Armarium, the high-style fashion renter, has a pop-up shop at The Standard, East Village in the Perch (Room 408 on Sunday, September 10). Browse the offerings, get a free consultation from an ARMI stylist, then rent a new look. Open September 7 through 15, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, noon to 6 p.m. on the weekend. RSVP: stylist@armarium.com
