Overnight New York is the independent guide to New York City hotels with honest, unbiased reporting and no ties to the hotels we write about. We visit each hotel anonymously and always pay when we eat and stay. Think of Overnight New York as a best friend who susses out where you want to spend the night — and where you don’t — and tells you what’s new, what’s trending and where to meet for drinks after work, indulge in a romantic dinner or put up the in-laws.

Crosby Street Hotel’s Monday Night Movies Invites Authors to Introduce Their Favorite Films
/in Hotels and the Arts/by Terry TruccoAs a fan of the Crosby Street Hotel’s Sunday Night Film Club (a club in name only) I perked up when I discovered the hotel’s stylish basement screening room – orange leather chairs, state of the art equipment – had launched a new series. A Chat With Travis Chamberlain, Director of Tennessee Williams’ “Green Eyes” at Hudson Hotel
/in Hotels and the Arts/by Terry TruccoIt’s not news when a hotel room serves as a backdrop for a movie or photo shoot. But a play?
Welcome to Room 620 at the Hudson hotel. As noted previously, Green Eyes, a rarely seen one-act by Tennessee Williams, written in 1970 and published in 2008, is performed in this snug little suite through January 23. Fortunately for claustrophobic types, the play is short – just 35 minutes – with just two characters, a warring pair of newlyweds honeymooning in a seedy New Orleans hotel room. Read more

King Kong Meets Hansel & Gretel: Gingerbread Houses Inspired by Movies at Le Parker Meridien
/in Hotels and Holidays/by Terry TruccoEver wondered how King Kong perched on top of the Empire State Building might look rendered in gingerbread?
Me, neither. But King Kong is just one of seven movies interpreted in grand-scale gingerbread in the second annual holiday gingerbread exhibition at Le Parker Meridien hotel. And the result – an Art Deco gingerbread skyscraper with a frosted ape balanced atop a fondant finial – is scrumptious. Read more
