Are Those Designer Condoms in the Mini-Bars at Thompson Hotels?

Fashion Week may be history, but designers haven’t stopped unveiling their newest creations. Making its debut in the mini-bars at Thompson Hotels’ five New York City properties is the latest from hip fashion designer Charlotte Ronson – a line of limited edition condoms created for Proper Attire, the condom line whose proceeds benefit Planned Parenthood.

The chicly pretty package designed by Ronson, whose cool, playful clothes are ideal for clubbing, displays soft hues and a tweak of her signature CR heart motif. It is also a first. Though male designers, including Alexander Wang, have collaborated with Proper Attire in the past, Ronson, sister of DJ Samantha and record producer Marc,  is the first woman.

The stylish little packets, priced at $5.99 for a three-pack, join items like Dean & Deluca confections and champagne in the mini-bars of 60 Thompson, Gild Hall, 6 Columbus, Thompson LES and Smyth Tribeca. Condoms are not new to Thompson’s mini-bars, so why stock the CR line? “Both Thompson hotels and their customers are fans of Charlotte Ronson,” a spokesperson says.
